Originally from Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Marisse was adopted by her working-class grandparents, whose own workplace injuries helped shape her future career path.

She earned her Juris Doctor from Western New England University School of Law, where she served as President of the Health Law Association and received the prestigious CALI Award in Higher Education Law and Legal Aspects of Entrepreneurship.

Her approach to workplace injury law is influenced by her unique background: raised by an ICU nurse with 50 years of experience rehabilitating the critically injured, Marisse developed what colleagues jokingly refer to as a "genetic predisposition to compassion" alongside her exceptional fluency in medical terminology.
